Control images from a sporting event remotely thanks to Terralpha's ultra-low latency national network!

Videlio, audiovisual integrator and service provider, is developing its expertise by operating remote production in a brand new, cutting-edge and extremely innovative space: Station 141.

More specifically, Videlio wanted to be able to produce and dress a sporting event without having to travel to the site.

Moving these temporary facilities is very difficult for a number of reasons:

  • A dozen people to bring to the region
  • The teams arrive on site a few days before the event and incur significant costs (hotels, catering, travel expenses).
  • The equipment is heavy and has to be assembled and dismantled regularly.
  • Transporting all this equipment requires several lorries

Various stakeholders worked together to bring this project to fruition:

  • Videlio: audiovisual integrator and service provider
  • Synoptic Broadcast: technical integrator of video solutions
  • Ereca: French manufacturer of telecom equipment for the video industry
  • Terralpha: long-distance operator

To make this project a success, the football match between Olympique Lyonnais and FC Nantes, which took place in Lyon on 14 May 2022, was chosen.

Thanks to its high data rates and low latency, the Terralpha photonic network was able to transport a large number of camera streams from the Lyon stadium to Videlio's premises without encoding or transformation. From the remote control room at Station 141, located in Gennevilliers near Paris, Videlio's teams were able to control some of these cameras, produce and dress the various images received very quickly from Lyon, and transmit them live to the television channels or to the commentators in the stadium box, without any visible delay.
